"For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain," said the apostle Paul. We know that this would be the message if our dear Brother were able to give us a message today from the portals of heaven where he has gone to be forever with the Lord.
Eartis Ferrell was born December 30, 1955, to the late Mr. Alf Ferrell and Dessie Ree Edmond Ferrell in Scott County, Mississippi. He was the ninth of nine children.
He attended South Leake High School and was a member of the Class of 1974. After high school, Eartis worked in the poultry and logging industries until his health failed. In his leisure time, Eartis enjoyed sports, fishing, hunting, and gardening. He thoroughly enjoyed sharing his products with family and friends.
His memory will always be cherished by his one sister, Barbara (Herbert) Manning of Dolton, IL; two brothers, James Ferrell of Lena, MS, Earnest (Eloise) Jones of Pelahatchie, MS; one brother-in-law, John Talbert of Lena, MS; a life-long friend William "Buck" Rasco; a very special friend of 33 years Evonne Rasco of Forest, MS and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Quincy Earl Edmond, Clyde Ferrell; three sisters, one, a twin Mertis McBeath, Mary Talbert, Ozie Ree Ealy; sisters-in-law Emma Ferrell and Rosie "Sutt" Edmond; brothers-in-law Jessie Earl Early, Terry McBeath, and Eddie Tobias.
Eartis will forever be remembered and deeply missed by all whose lives he enriched.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." Psalms 23:4
