Elmer Henry

On January 2, 1930, in Carthage, Mississippi, a baby boy was born to the late George and Pearl Triplett Henry. That child, Elmer Henry, would grow to become a man known for his strong work ethic, caring heart, and deep love for family. After living a life filled with purpose and devotion, he peacefully transitioned from this earthly life on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Baptist Leake Hospital. 

Elmer's journey began in Leake County, where he received his education and developed the values that would guide him throughout his life. He became a faithful member of Christian Union M.B. Church, where his faith remained an important part of who he was.

One of the greatest blessings of his life was meeting and marrying the love of his life, Della Beatrice Levy. Together they built a loving home and were blessed with ten children. Family was at the center of Elmer's world, and he worked tirelessly to provide for those he loved.

Elmer was no stranger to hard work. He spent many years employed with the Carthage Co-op before retiring. Yet, even after a day's work, he found joy tending to his garden, nurturing both the land and the people around him. He was a kind-hearted man who never met a stranger. Whether sharing a story, lending a helping hand, or offering words of encouragement, Elmer made everyone feel welcome.

His legacy lives on through his children: Elmer Henry, Jr., Rudolph Henry, Delphine Henry, Lee Marvin Henry, Prentis LaDale Henry (Catherine), Peggy Ann Henry, Lester Henry (Tina), Andre Henry, Ricardo Henry (Christine), and Melita Shonta Henry; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren.

He also leaves behind his sister, Millie Ruth Hannah; a brother-in-law, Odell Levy, a sister-in-law, Josephine Henry, and a vast array of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Della Beatrice Henry; his parents, George and Pearl Henry; and his siblings, Benford Henry, Ulysses Henry, James Henry, Vinnie Bell Griffin, and Mattie Mae Leflore.

Though his earthly journey has ended, the seeds of love, kindness, and wisdom that Elmer planted throughout his life will continue to grow in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
