The Obituary of Helen J. Hutchins
1949•2026
Helen Jean Hutchins peacefully gained her wings on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the age of 77.
Born in Leake County Mississippi on January 1, 1949, to the late Luella Parrott and Thomas Holton.
At an early age she confessed her life to Christ and joined Bethlehem MB Church where she served in several capacities, even as the mother of the church.
She was united in holy matrimony to James Hutchins, Sr. on December 24, 1966. A blessed 59 years of marriage.
Her dedication to serving others allowed her the opportunity to serve as the poll manager in Lena, MS for many years. For 25 years she was a teacher and bus driver with the Leake County School District. Her main passion, for over 30 years, was her janitorial services. She served many businesses in Leake County.
She was preceded in death by her parents and eleven siblings, 1 grandchild (Madison) and 1 great-grandchild (Averi).
She is survived by her devoted husband, James Hutchins, Sr.; four children Teresa Bogan (Darrell), Leslie Hutchins Olowu, James Hutchins, Jr., (Sherria), Michael Hutchins (Wonda) and a Bonus Son, Keyonn Gilbert (Larissa), eight grandchildren, Brian Keith, Santisja, Akira, Marquarius, Jazarria (Antonio), Kychelle, Destiny, and Miyah; eleven great-grandchildren; a brother, Chester Harlson and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
