Life Story

Joseph Bernard Jones

1986 - 2022

"For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or die, we are the Lords." Romans 14:8

On February 4, 1986, a handsome soul entered the world, born to Sharon Jones Griffin and Bernard Mann, in Jackson, MS. They named their bundle of joy Joseph Bernard Jones. Joseph was a blessing to anyone that he crossed paths with.  He professed his faith in Jesus Christ in his early years and joined Truelight Missionary Baptist Church in Walnut Grove, MS.

He attended South Leake High School, in Walnut Grove, MS. Joseph had a zeal for life, he loved his family, his friends, he enjoyed hanging out in the Rocky Hill community spending quality time with the ones he loved. He loved basketball with a passion, his favorite player of all times is LeBron James. His work experience throughout the years included Peco Foods, Koch's Food, Freeny Water Association, and LA-Z-Boy. He was a loving father, son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin, and dear friend.

Joseph completed his earthly task on Saturday, November 12, 2022. He was preceded in death by a son, Jayvien Jones, a brother Eric Griffin, his maternal grandparents, Johnny B. and Carnell Smith Jones, his paternal grandfather Jimmy Ned Mann.

Left to treasure his loving and precious memories; His children, Aalyncia Jones, Jniya Jones, Josiah Jones, Joseph Jones, Jr., Trasean Davis, and Gracelyn Harvey. His precious mother, Sharon Griffin of Walnut Grove, MS, Father, Bernard Mann (Kitty) of Dallas, Texas, a brother; Jessie Griffin (Janessa) of Walnut Grove, MS. A loving grandmother; Birdie Mann of Carthage, MS. Uncles; Johnny Jones (Melissa), Cedric Mann of Carthage, MS, Darrell Mann (Cassandra) of Memphis, TN, Aunt; Kimberly Mann Reid of Carthage, MS, Great-Grandparents; Earnestine Smith Jones, Ted Jones, a special friend; Courtney Harvey, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Joseph was a blessing to those who were a part of his life. He will be missed by the outpouring of love that he gave and his warm spirit. He was a "one call, that's all" type of person and his children and family was most important to him, and it showed. For that alone we are grateful, and we take comfort knowing that he has reunited with his brother, Eric.

"A page turned; a chapter closed."
