Leola Hopkins Obituary

Leola Love Hopkins "Catherine" transitioned this life on July 12, 2024, at University Hospital in Jackson, MS surrounded by her loving family.  Born, June 20, 1940, to the late Lincoln Love, Sr. and Willie Taylor Love. She was the youngest of her family. She united in holy matrimony to the late Wallace Lavern Hopkins, Sr. They were blessed with a son; the late Wallace Lavern Hopkins, Jr. and two daughters; Shelia Denise Hopkins of Chicago, IL and Darlene Spivey (Kevin) of Carthage, MS. Catherine graduated from Allen Carver High School in Charleston, MS. She began her profession at Rush Presbyterian Hospital, Chicago, IL. As Leola's health worsened, Kevin and Darlene Spivey made their house a home for her, to assure that she was properly cared for.

She confessed her life to Christ and joined First Walnut Grove Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Superintendent Bobby L. Henson. She later joined First Baptist MB Church under the leadership of Reverend Marcus Mann. She loved to attend church and was a faithful member until her health started to decline. She continued to be a dedicated Woman of God during her spiritual journey.

Those who transitioned this life before her included her husband; Wallace Lavern Hopkins, Sr., a son; Wallace Lavern Hopkins, Jr., nine siblings; Jane, Betty, Rosemary, Olivia, Estella, Roosevelt, William, Lincoln (Mike), and Billie. Catherine was blessed with fourteen grandchildren: starting with her first grandbaby, Arnettra Hopkins, Pierre Hopkins (Jessica), Jeremaine Hopkins, Courtney Spivey, Parish Hopkins-Spivey, Dennis Hopkins-Spivey, Kelvina Spivey, Diamond Scott, Donald Scott, Devon Hopkins, Star Scott, Spirit Hopkins, and Issac Hopkins. She also leaves behind her great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to cherish her memories. Relatives that wo were very dear and close to her, Peggy Love, Chucky Love, Martha Jean Love, and Earlene Love.  Her memories will also be cherished by her special friend Betty Viverette.

Catherine's passing leaves a void in our hearts, but we are at peace knowing that she has reunited with her loving family members who have passed on.
