The Epitaph of Mother Louise Spivey Boone
Louise transitioned this life on Friday, October 25, 2024, at a blessed age of 100 years old, living to see five generations of her offspring. She was born on November 18, 1923 to the late Elder and Ozie Spivey.
She joined Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and later moved her membership to Abundant Life Apostolic Church under the leadership of Bishop W.T. Walton, Jr. where she served on the Mother Board and remained a faithful member until her heath declined.
In 1938, she was united in holy matrimony to the late Dan Boone; to this union eleven children were born.
She was employed by Head Start (Friends of Children) when it launched in 1965 as a comprehensive child development program. When founded, Head Start was an 8-week program staffed by thousands of volunteers from across the nation. Mother Boone was one of the first volunteers to staff the program. While employed with Head Start, she attended Tougaloo College, Mary Holmes College , and Mississippi State University.
ln the 1960s, she was an active member of the civil rights movement, attending non-violent protests and marches. Several of her children
attended marches in Washington D.C. Freedom riders were often housed and fed in the Boone home.
Those who transitioned this life before her included her husband; Dan Boone, two sons; Joe Boone and Walter Presley Boone, her parents, and all of her siblings.
Left to treasure her memories are her Nine (9) children; Daniel Boone, Annie Pearl Morgan, Josephine Riser, Ethel Henderson, Bobbie Jean Hampton, Ann B. Mahone, Marilyn Kilpatrick, Edgar Boone (Arlene), and Ozie Anderson (Sidney).
She also leaves behind Twenty-One Grandchildren, Forty-Three Great Grandchildren, Many Great Great Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her church family.
Louise’s passing leaves a void in the lives of all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
