Patty Newman Reese

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain. But a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

 Proverbs 31:30-31.

Patty Jefferson Newman Reese was born on May 2, 1930, to the late Violet Jefferson Graves. She was the fourth child of ten children.

She professed her faith in Jesus Christ the earlier years of her life. She was baptized and became a member of Centreville Baptist Church and later joined Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Centreville, MS where she was an active member until her health failed.

She received her education at Rosenwald School in Centreville, MS.  She touched the lives of many with her sector of knowledge.

Patty was united in holy matrimony to Earnest Newman, Sr. and to this union 4 children were born, two sons and two daughters.  Her husband Earnest of many years preceded her in death.  Later in life, she met and married her second husband, Robert Reese.  She gained 4 children with this union, three daughters and one son.  All of which preceded her in death.

Patty dedicated herself to her family and relished her role as a caretaker for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and friends.  She was a voice of stability and direction for all who encountered her.

She was preceded in death by both of her husbands; Earnest Newman, Sr. and Robert Reese, her parents, six brothers, two sisters and one son-in-law.

She transitioned into her Heavenly home on February 4, 2025.

She leaves to treasure her memories, four children: Charles (Deloris) Newman of Kenner, LA, Earnest (Elizabeth) Newman, Jr. of Centreville, MS, Violet (Frank) Green of Gary, ID, and Doris Whitehead of Jackson, MS.  One loving sister: Dr. Lovie N. Gibson of Jackson, MS, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
