Earl Edwards was born March 16, 1949 to the late George and Virginia Edwards in Jackson, Mississippi (Hinds County). He departed this life January 19, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Baptist Medical Center. He confessed Christ at an early age to St James Missionary Baptist Church; he later joined Northside Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Hopkins and later united with Metropolitan Full Gospel under the pastorate of Pastor Willie J. Berry. After being under the leadership of Pastor Berry, he went on to become the founder and pastor of Rock of Angels Baptist Church for 23years. He graduated from Lanier High School and Pine Bluff A&M University where he received his Bachelor's of Arts. He later went on to marry his high school sweetheart Desa Ree Polk-Edwards and was married for 49 long years. Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his three brothers Wilbert Edwards, Roomie Edwards, and Willie Edwards. he leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Desa Ree Polk-Edwards, two daughters, Elise Sumler (Leonard), Eleonor Edwards; five grandchildren, Alayjha Edwards, Jana Reed, Morgan Sumler, Kattie Sumler, and Matthew Bronson; six brothers and sisters; George T. Edwards (Los Angeles,CA), Roe T. Edwards (Donna) (Groveland,FL), Vethena Edwards (Jackson,MS), Versheen Edwards (Jackson,MS), Danny Edwards (Jonesboro,GA),and Angel Edwards (Jackson,MS), a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
