The Epitaph of Ricky L. Cooks
As we gather, I want to remind you that I approached life with enthusiasm and passion. With that spirit in mind, I encourage you to honor my memory by smiling, laughing, and cherishing the memories we shared.
Ricky Lynn Cooks, a native of Carthage, MS transitioned from this life on Tuesday, April 29, 2025.
Born to Bonnie Stewart Tillis and The Late Lester Cooks on January 13, 1959. Ricky was a member of Pilgrim Rest MB Church and received his education from Jordan High School within the Leake County Public Schools system. He commenced his professional career as a Certified Welder at Taylor Machine Works, H & H Chief Sales, and later became a Cross Country Truck Driver. In his free time, Ricky enjoyed welding and creating items of his own design, and he also possessed a talent for gardening. Following his retirement, he dedicated himself to cultivating flowers and gardens in his yard.
Most notably, Ricky cherished spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren. He met his beloved wife, Arma J. Wingo, and they were married on Christmas Day in 1989, blessed with a daughter together.
He leaves to treasure his memory, his wife; Arma J. Cooks, children; Shiquita Wingo, Cedric Cooks, Tracy Wingo, his beloved mother; Bonnie Tillis, siblings; Bernice Stewart, David Cook (Jackie). Nine Grandchildren; India, Kwuntores, Rynell, Tracy Jr., Tiyunna, Timyra, Tyler, Ymari, Brayden, Five Great Grandchildren.
He also leaves behind his mother in love; Lillie Bell Wingo, sisters in law; Jackie Cooks and Annie Wingo, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son; Roderick Cooks, Father; Lester Cooks, Brothers; Lonnie + Darryl Cooks. Sisters in law; Christine Gardner (Willie) and Rodean Smith (Antia).
