Tyler Wingo Obituary

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, have everlasting life. John 3:16

Tyler Traveon Wingo was born on May 28, 2008, to Yvonne Scott-Matlock in Flowood, Mississippi. From the moment of his arrival, Tyler brought immense joy, energy, and a vibrant spirit into the lives of everyone who knew him.

At a young age, Tyler became a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Zion Methodist Church in Canton, Mississippi. He was a student at Leake Central High School, where he was preparing to embark on his senior year Class of 2026.

As a vibrant and kindhearted young man, Tyler had a passion for sports, particularly basketball and baseball. Beyond his athletic interests, Tyler was renowned for his compassionate heart, his sense of humor, and a radiant smile that could illuminate an entire room. He was a devoted son, a loyal friend, and someone who made an indelible impression on everyone he met.

Tyler departed this life on May 9, 2025. Although his time with us was tragically short, the impact he made will endure in the hearts of all who loved him. Those who preceded him in death include his sister, Mar'Cayla Kareema Matlock; grandmother, Martha Hadley Scott; and grandfather, John A. Scott.

Tyler leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories with his mother, Yvonne Scott-Matlock (Marcus) of Carthage, Mississippi; a brother, Tracy Wingo Jr.; a sister, India Wingo of Carthage, Mississippi; and a stepbrother, Jomarcus Matlock of Carthage, Mississippi; uncle, Don Hadley (Sha-Ron) of Wylie, Texas; and special uncle, Joseph Jackson (Ann) of Lawrenceville, Georgia; a special great-aunt, Willye Bea Scott-Robinson (Joseph) of Natchez, Mississippi; a special grandmother, Cynthia Fortune; special aunts, Tina Mann (Rudy), Renee McWilliamson, and Tamara Verser; special cousins, Brenda Stokes Reid and Telisa Mitchell; his girlfriend, La'Kinda Goines;  nephews; and a vast array of cousins and friends.
